What the Teacher Wore...to a Education Conference

Next week at this time, I'll be livin' it up in Orlando, FL at the Teachers Pay Teachers conference....and I cannot wait!  This is my first TPT conference and the first teacher conference that I've been to in a loooong time.  So, the question is- What will I wear?

My rule is to always, always choose what makes me feel good and to not worry about everyone else.  I know what fits my body type well, and what doesn't fit my body well.  You won't find me in spaghetti straps or jumpsuits.  I love them on others, but yikes on me! I also try to stick with a color palette.  This makes packing so much easier, because you'll need less but can easily mix and match.  This time, I stuck with my brand colors of navy, white, and green with stripes #ofcourse.  I also added in a lot of cognac and gold accessories.

I always dress really comfortably on flights, but I also don't like to look like a slob.
(Friends, I am by no means a good photographer, especially when it comes to outfit photos.  I know they're not fab. #nojudgmentsplease #ihatetoiron  )
(leggings- Old Navy/ tunic- Target/ sandals(similar)-Target / necklace-Target / sunnies-TJ Maxx)
On the way down, I'm going with leggings and one of my favorite summer tunics.  I'll probably grab a cardigan or denim jacket to throw over top in case it's chilly.

(jeans- Gap/ tee- Old Navy/ cardigan-LOFT / necklace-Target/ hat-Jane.com)
On the way home, I have a simple tank and jeans with some simple accessories.  I love a cute baseball hat for messy, humid hair days.

For the conference days and hanging out at the resort, I tried to choose things that would be 1- comfortable, 2-layered for temperature, and 3-not sloppy.  I know it's going to be blazing hot, but we're also going to be inside most of the time.

 (jeans- Old Navy/ blouse-LOFT/ wedges(similar)-Bass/ necklace- WalMart/ earrings-NY & Co./ bracelets- J.Crew & Kate Spade )

At night, we have a few really fun meet-ups and happy hours.  I'm sticking with my vibe of comfy, cool, and stylish.

I am going to take a pair of black, skinny ankle pants that can be easily mixed with my other pieces.  I'll probably throw in another dress, as well.  I haven't decided which one, yet.

In addition to the above outfits, I'll will definitely pack a bathing suit #noselfiesthankyouverymuch and some easy shorts and tees for hanging out.

If you're heading to Orlando, what are you wearing?  If not, what do you love wearing to conferences and PD sessions?  I'd love to hear!

Trendy Teachers- What the Teacher Wore Wednesday!

Yikes, it's been almost a month since I last blogged!  I'm learning to balance my time between family, school, TPT, and blogging.  Learning being the key word there!

I'm linking up again for What the Teacher Wore Wednesday with some teachers with fabulous style- Chandra from Teaching With Crayons and Curls, Caitlin from Teach, Inspire, Change, Brittany from The Posh Teacher, and Lindsey from It's Elementary, My Dear

My blue gingham shirts are major workhorses in my closet.  I love, love, love gingham, because it's classic and versatile.  Now that the weather actually feels like fall, I can wear some of my favorite long-sleeved tops and dresses with tights.  I'm loving the cooler temps!

So, this past Friday I received my first Stitch Fix box.  I've been on the fence about trying it for a while, and I finally bit the bullet and signed up.
Here's what I received:

I really liked it all except for the purse.  It's red with black piping, and that's just not really my thing. I don't love red and black together.  I kept the jeans.  They fit well and have a nice rise.
This dress is absolutely adorable.  It's hard to tell, but it's cream, navy, and burnt orange.  I loved the colors so much, and it's definitely something I'd choose for myself.  The cut was really flattering, and the material was a ponte with nice weight.  Unfortunately, it was snug in the hips and belly, and that made me self-conscious.  Those are my problem areas.  So, the dress goes back.
This top was also really cute.  It is black and white with a bird print.  For some reason, I actually really like the critter print trend.  The cut of the blouse is nice, but it had absolutely no stretch to it.  It was too tight in the bust for me.  I don't typically buy topics that are made of silky material, because they are often tight in the chest, and I have two toddlers.  #mamadontdryclean
The jeans I'm wearing were also in my Fix, and like I said, I really liked them.  The denim is nice. They're a little pricier than I'd normally pay, but honestly, I need jeans.  These fit, and I felt good in them.  They paired well with flats and boots.
This jacket was cute, but I didn't love the knit sleeves.   It's kind of a suede material with sweater sleeves.  It's also, obviously, too short.  I felt like it could be part of a fancy sweatsuit, maybe one that J-Lo would wear.  It went back.

Overall, I was really pleased with my box.  Everything was really cute and in tune with my style.   Everything was kind of pricey, so I did adjust that on my Stitch Fix profile.  I'm a champagne shopper on a beer budget, that's for sure.  I scheduled my next Fix for October, and I'm excited to get it.  It was so much fun to get the box on my door step.  If you want try it, I'd love for you to use my referral code

Thanks for stopping by!  Come back again next Wednesday for What the Teacher Wore.  You can check out my Instagram for outfit posts until then.

What the Teacher Wore

Hi!
If you're a regular reader, you know that I love clothes and shopping...so, I'm going to share my #teacherootd each week for What the Teacher Wore.  I hope you find a bit of inspiration...but please excuse my horrific selfie skills.  I totally stink at them!

I had a 4-day week, and Friday was a spirit wear day, so no cute outfit.
Tuesday
I really liked this outfit.  It was simple, which was perfect for a 95 degree day without AC.  I cannot wear heels in the heat!

Wednesday
I am loving this striped scarf for fall!  The colors are perfect- navy, burnt orange, and chartreuse.  My favorites!
This dress shrunk up a bit for me, making it too short for school.  I like it with the leggings, but I think it needed a jacket over top.  Again, 90+ degrees, so a jacket or cardigan wasn't happening.

Thursday
Do you ever check out the statement necklaces at Wal-Mart?  There are SO many cute ones for $5.  I picked up this one on clearance for $2.99.  I love it!  I started the day with these cute wedges, but I couldn't take them past lunch time.  My feet aren't used to heels after a summer of bare feet and flip fops.
Cardigan/ Loft
Pants/ Old Navy
Necklace/ Wal-Mart

I am beyond ready for fall fashions.  It is, by far, my favorite time of year to dress.  I love, love, love to layer, and I love the colors and patterns.  I actually hate dressing for warmer weather...#mombod

Thanks for reading, and stop back again next week for a few new teacher outfits.
Have a great weekend!
